Student Zone FAQs
When you purchase any Tutorial or Workbook in Osborne Books’ AAT Accounting range, you will receive online access to a free eBook copy and revision crosswords for the corresponding level. To access your online resources, you need to set up a Student Zone account. If you ordered your books online, you may already have done so; you can log in above. If you haven’t yet set up an account, you can do so by filling in this form.
Important notes:
- Crosswords and eBooks can only be viewed from within your Student Zone account. Access requires an internet connection.
- Access to the Student Zone is exclusively for students who have purchased paperback or eBook versions of one or more AAT Tutorials or Workbooks. Login details will not be provided to students who cannot provide proof of purchase.
- Crosswords cannot be purchased separately.
- Ebooks can be purchased separately from our online shop if required. Please note that you will receive a free eBook copy anyway if you purchase the paperback equivalent. If you would like to buy an eBook, please read our Terms and Conditions before doing so.

Unfortunately, we do not provide eBooks for second-hand purchases. It is difficult for us to verify these types of purchase and this can lead to multiple student accounts existing for one book.
You are entitled to access eBook versions of any AAT Tutorials or Workbooks that you have purchased or obtained through your training centre.
You are entitled to access crosswords for any level at which you have purchased at least one AAT Tutorial. For example, if you have purchased Bookkeeping Transactions Tutorial, you will receive access to all available crosswords for AAT level 2.
Student accounts set up during the online ordering process will be active immediately. Applications made via the online application form may take up to one week to process. The more information you provide, the quicker you will receive a response.
In order to approve your application, we must be able to verify that you are a customer. To help us do so, you should provide all details requested in the application form. If you did not provide enough information, we may have been unable to verify your status as a customer. In addition, if any information entered on the form is found to be inaccurate, your application will be refused. Please note that access will not be provided for second-hand purchases (e.g. buying your books from another student or purchasing on eBay). To discuss your application further, please contact us.
Yes! You can purchase eBooks separately from our website. Please note that if you purchase any paperback AAT Tutorial or Workbook, you will receive free supplementary copies of the eBooks anyway. However, you are able to purchase the eBooks only if you wish.
If you are a tutor, and you are interested in purchasing eBooks in bulk for your students, please contact us to discuss this further.
You might assume that because an eBook is in electronic format and not a paper book, it is cheaper to produce and therefore should cost less to purchase, however, although the production methods and types of cost differ, eBooks actually cost more for us to produce than their paperback equivalents.

A number of basic features are currently available in your eBooks; for example, you can zoom, view an interactive list of contents, bookmark favourite pages (on the app) and search your eBook for key terms.
Our books are written for Accounting courses, so they contain lots of complex tables and diagrams. Because of this, our eBooks are set in a fixed format. The pages will resize to your device but the text will not reflow. This keeps all of the information you need in the correct order and makes it much easier for you to read your eBooks, but it does limit the number of extra features we are able to provide. For example, some of the ways you can personalise your Kindle eBooks, such as changing the size and colour of the font, are not currently available.
Yes. If you have obtained access to eBooks as free supplements to the paperback books that you have purchased or obtained through your college, your eBook will be removed when the equivalent paperback becomes 'out of print' or two years after your purchase, whichever is earlier. This usually happens when the qualification is revised and new editions of our books are printed, so you should have finished your studies by then.
If you have purchased an eBook from our website shop, you have essentially purchased a license to view the content made available through the Osborne Books Student Zone. When this eBook is removed from our system, usually when a qualification is revised (for the AAT this is typically every three to five years), or two years after your initial purchase it will disappear from your account and your devices. If you wish to own your books indefinitely, we advise purchasing the paperback books and you will receive access to supplementary eBooks free of charge subject to the terms above.
On receipt of a returned book, we will revoke access to the online eBook version of that book.
If you are returning all of the books that you have purchased at a particular AAT level (i.e. all level 2 books), then access will be revoked for all crosswords at that level. If you keep any of the books you have purchased at that level (i.e. you send back Bookkeeping Transactions Tutorial but keep Bookkeeping Controls Tutorial), then your access to crosswords will remain unchanged.
Yes, as with the AAT range, the ebook access is provided upon purchase of the AQA paperbacks. It is also possible to purchase just the ebook versions of the AQA books via our website.
If you are viewing from a PC or laptop, eBooks are best displayed using up to date web browser. If you are viewing from the Osborne Books app, you will not require any additional software to view your eBooks.
If you are viewing from a PC or laptop, you will require internet access and eBooks are available to view online only. If you are viewing from the Osborne Books app, you can download your eBooks to your devices to view offline. To prevent this service from being abused, our eBooks have DRM (Digital Rights Management) settings applied, and cannot be copied or printed.
The best way to view your eBooks on a phone or tablet is to download Osborne Books app. Simply visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and search for 'Osborne Books'. The app is free to download. You will initially need an internet connection to download the app and log in to your Student Zone account, but you can then download the books to your device to view them offline. You can be logged in to your account simultaneously on a maximum of three devices.
The app is currently available on Apple and Android only. If you have a Windows or Kindle tablet you can still view your eBooks by logging in to your Student Zone account via your internet browser.
Your crosswords will display and function on any smartphone or tablet that has an internet connection; simply open your internet browser, log in to your Student Zone account and view/complete your crosswords as normal.
You may be trying to view your crosswords on Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, the crosswords are not compatible with older versions of Internet Explorer, try using Chrome, Safari or Firefox instead.
If you are having technical problems that are not addressed in the questions above you can contact us here.
